About Portland Sports: Our Facility
The Portland Sports Complex is conveniently located at 512 Warren Avenue in Portland, maine just 1 ½ miles off the Maine turnpike and includes:
- A 45,000 square foot field house with a 160'x 230' +/- indoor synthetic turf sports field surface utilizing state-of-the-art FieldTurf
- Two large changing/team meeting rooms
- Administrative offices and handicapped accessible bathrooms
- Adjacent to Frozen Ropes Baseball Training Center
- "Turf's" Sports Pub offering a diverse menu, mezzanine viewing and multiple TV's
The advanced field house design eliminates the need for dasher boards, something that is prevalent in all other competitive facilities in this region. By eliminating these boards, Portland Sports Center provides the player with a safer sports environment while offering an indoor style of play that more closely simulates traditional outdoor play.
The field house is approximately 45,000 square feet and houses the FieldTurf surface. The adjoining space houses administrative offices and a large entrance vestibule area, as well as the sports pub, bathrooms and changing rooms.
Because we wanted to offer the most realistic playing experience in the seacoast region, we have specially designed this facility from the "Player Up". We DO NOT have any dasher boards separating our fields. A specially engineered drop down sports curtain and netting is secured in the 62' high galvanized steel rafters providing a solid, yet flexible dividing mechanism. The sports curtain is not intended to be 'played off of', yet offers versatility while providing optimum indoor performance. Painted touchlines surround the perimeter of the field allowing an official out-of-bounds territory.
We have an on-site family style sports pub that is open daily. Food that is offered includes hot pizza, a variety of great appetizers, fresh sandwiches, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and main dishes. Additionally, we also have a cold beverage vending machine available anytime as well as hot coffee and packaged snack machines.
The Portland Sports Complex was designed with versatility in mind and therefore can host large functions. Due to the RUBB/SMG Sports Building structure, the inside of the building has no support poles dividing the building and it is completely clear span. The 45,000 SF field house is one, big wide-open space with a grass surface and a 62' ceiling height. Two large bay doors have been installed to allow for easy access of large equipment and/or retail products such as small boats, campers, motorcycles and cars.
